EXAMINATION & TESTING
MARKING, STAMPING AND CUTTING OF MATERIALS
The QC Inspector shall witness the transfer of the material identifications heat number marking, prior to cutting.
Plates may be cut by mechanical means such as machining, shearing, grinding or gas cutting. Exposed edges shall be chamfered or rounded after cutting. All edges shall be examined visually for defects.
QC Inspector shall record heat numbers of critical / pressure parts on “Material Traceability Reports”.
For stainless steel materials/parts identification shall be carried out using ink marker to retain traceability.
FIT-UP INSPECTION AND TESTING
Production shall check the plates, pipe and structural, edge preparation, fit-up, dimension, tolerance and assembly as per the fabrication drawings. He/she shall then inform the QC Inspector who shall also check the items. Upon completion of inspection, QC Inspector shall record the result in the Inspection Report, such as “Fit-up & Visual Inspection Report”.
